Interview with The Breakfast Club

Following the successful launch of The Breakfast Club's new site, we decided to interview our client and see what had lead them to us. We got the rather delightful response below in response to our questions:

  • Why did you choose putitout to work with?

As much as we loved our old bright egg-yolk yellow website and it's simplicity, we felt the need for a change that would reflect how The Breakfast Club is growing. The community surrounding each of our cafes is important to us and we try and work with and support local businesses as much as possible. So when putitout responded to our tweet looking for a new website designer we were immediately interested. A hilarious photo they made of them behind the bar of our Soho cafe with the staff waving a putitout sign sealed the deal - we knew they would be able to deliver something fun, creative and full of Breakfast Club personality.

  • How was the day-to-day working relationship with putitout?

We couldn't have asked for more. Throughout the whole process putitout managed to make our ideas on the design and concept a reality and were patient with us if we ever changed our minds (which we probably did a lot!). It's a great feeling seeing something you imagined in your head become a reality and if any detail, big or small, wasn't quite how we had imaged it it was reworked until it was perfect. The support from start to finish was fantastic, with a member of the team always on hand to answer the tiniest of questions or clear up any kind of confusion. Weekly meetings and regular phone and email contact meant we developed a personal and friendly relationship, which suits the way we like to manage all of our business relationships. Designing a bespoke website that represents your business is a very personal thing, and the day-to-day working relationship we developed with putitout reflected this.

  • What's your favorite part of the site?

Do we have to pick just one? The map because of the gifs of London landmarks, the connect page because it's inspired by the walls of our Soho cafe, the tapper game style menu page, the swanky scrolling function. Most of all, we love the impact of the landing page which is based on WarGames, a favourite 80's film of ours.

  • Would you recommend putitout?

Absolutely would recommend putitout, despite the fact it would make us sad to see them working with other businesses and not us on a regular basis!

Ed - We were practically in tears by the end of this reference, we couldn’t have asked for more from a client! Working with local businesses is very important to us, and The Breakfast Club was a delightful partner in creating something we are all very proud to have been a part of.
