Samsung NX300 Launch Facebook Campaign

putitout’s latest and greatest Facebook campaign for Samsung’s new NX300 recently went live with brilliant results.

Samsung’s new camera the NX300 is pretty cool. Therefore, it needed it needed an equally compelling social app to spread the word. So we built one, at the request of our friends at Cheil.

Samsung wanted to put the speed of the NX300 to the test by setting some of Europe’s best known photo bloggers a series of challenges involving high-speed situations. Each blogger had to submit one photo per challenge which then went to the public vote. The blogger in each market with the most votes, and two lucky voters, would win a trip to Paris to meet the king of speed himself; Usain Bolt.

We delivered the Facebook app in six different countries (UK, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, France), pushing live at each campaign launch, with five bloggers per market, and social posts and drivers encouraging members of the public to vote. During the event bloggers were encouraged to post about their day and their progress. The European campaign kicked off on Friday 31 May at Goodwood and finished in London the day after, and the Facebook app went live two weeks later. Over the course of the two days the briefs specifically showed off the different features of the NX300 camera. Have a look at the event itself here.

Our Facebook app contained all the info about the campaign, the prizes, the challenges and briefs, the bloggers and of course a gallery of all the submitted photo entries. Each separate market saw a localised view of the app which showed the bloggers and submissions from that country.

The competition recently came to an end with over 30,000 votes being cast and 21 winners off to see Usain Bolt, you can see the winning photos here. The guys at Cheil were pretty pleased, and we know this because Alex Richards at Cheil said so. Take a read for yourself (not to boast or anything).

“This was was one of those projects that needed to be delivered extremely quickly whilst ensuring a scalable solution for the localisation of 6 European markets (including backend competition functionality). From the moment of the initial briefing we felt comfortable that putitout could deliver the solution we needed in an extremely tight timeframe. Unfortunately, our initial brief did end up changing but putitout dealt with it like professionals and were extremely accommodating. Over the course of the project I dealt with many members of the team from Project Management (Celeste) to the Technical Director (Zaki).  Each member of the team were extremely diligent and very professional.  I am very happy to say (and the client) that the campaign was launched on time and within budget! I would like to personally thank the team for their hard work (and late nights!).  I would have no hesitation in recommending them and look forward to many future projects together!”

There is nothing more satisfying than a cool project and a happy client, right guys? Right.
